Every backyard tells a different story.
We listen to yours first.
Every installation begins the same way — with a walk. We come to you, read the land, and talk through what you're imagining. The Backyard Vision Walk is complimentary, unhurried, and the foundation of everything we build. From there, you choose your trail.
The Backyard Vision Walk
Included with every installation. No cost, no commitment.
Before a single stone is placed, we spend an hour in your backyard together — mapping the trail route, identifying natural features worth keeping, and sharing recommendations for seating, lighting, and future additions. It's the best hour you'll spend in your backyard this year.
The Nestling
Up to 30 ft Starting at $950
A first step into the woods.
A natural playground mulch path winds through a corner of your yard, bordered by stones and fallen wood found on your own land. Four to six fairy-scale elements — a tiny door, a lantern, a mossy stepping stone — turn a quiet patch of yard into somewhere worth exploring.
What's included:
Backyard Vision Walk

Added Customizations
Beyond the packages, we offer a handful of additions that can be scoped and priced during your Vision Walk.
-
$150-$250
A hand-illustrated map of your trail with named features and waypoints. Laminated or framed — a keepsake as much as a guide.
-
$100–$500
When your property doesn't have suitable natural materials on hand, we source and bring in fieldstone, logs, or boulders that look like they've always been there.
-
$200–$400
Solar fairy lights along the path. Available as an add-on to The Nestling or The Wanderer.
-
Quoted per project.
We'll turn our planting recommendations into reality, subcontracted through a trusted local nursery partner.
-
Quoted per project
A bench at the trail's end, a reading nook, an entrance archway. Scoped during your Vision Walk, quoted separately.

What lives at the end of a fairy trail? Sometimes, a treehouse. We're developing a small portfolio of custom builds for the right properties. If your yard has a tree worth climbing, let's talk.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
We can't confirm or deny. What we can say is that things have a way of appearing on the trails that weren't there when we left. Draw your own conclusions.
-
Most installations are completed in one visit. The Nestling typically takes a full day. The Wanderer and Enchanted may require two days depending on the site.
-
In our experience, the trail doesn't summon them so much as give them a reason to stay. Location matters. Chatham County, it turns out, has excellent fairy demographics.
-
We're based in Chatham County and primarily serve the surrounding Carolina Piedmont. Reach out and we'll let you know if we can get to you.
-
That's what the Vision Walk is for. We can work with all kinds of yards — some lush, some sparse. The trail finds its character from whatever the land offers, and we supplement thoughtfully when needed.
-
Trails hold up well through Carolina winters. Our seasonal refreshes are designed specifically to extend the longevity of the trail and our Holiday Magic refresh adds seasonal charm at the same time.
-
No. Absolutely not. We have no idea what you're talking about.
-
Absolutely. You can always start with The Nestling and extend their trail in a later season. That’s exactly how the original Owl & Rain trail was built. We keep records of every install so expansions feel seamless.
-
Leprechauns are the master builders of the fairy world — responsible for most of the structural work on fairy houses and hollow features. We don't advertise this, but every Owl & Rain installation is leprechaun-approved. We handle the trail. They handle the interiors.
-
The fairies are not employees of The Owl & Rain Trail Co. and are not covered under our general liability insurance.
